Fix Mic Clicking

Learn what causes the mic to click, and how to fix it.

Overview

There are a few different reasons your mic might click in the SmoredBoard. If you have no voice changer/effects active on your mic and it's clicking, that means it's probably an underrun issue, if it only happens when certain effects or voice changers are active it's a load issue. This doc will go over both and how to fix.

Underrun Issue

Clicking with no effects active means that the mic input is underrunning. Meaning that the SmoredBoard is not receiving audio data from your mic fast enough.

To fix this you need to increase the latency of your mic in the SmoredBoard. If you don't know how to do this check this help doc out: Editing Mic Settings: Latency

Load Issue

Clicking only when certain effects or voice changers are active means that the mic output is lagging (or overloaded). This can be caused by the effects being too intensive for your CPU.

To fix this you'll need to lower the Sample Rate of your mic in the SmoredBoard. If you don't know how to do this check this help doc out: Editing Mic Settings: Sample Rate
